Codec Tweak Tool

This is a stand-alone version of the tool that is included in the K-Lite Codec Pack.

With this tool you can do things like:

• Scan the registry to detect and remove broken references to codecs and filters.
• Generate a detailed log of all installed codecs and filters.
• Enable/disable more than 200 codecs and filters (if they are installed).

MediaInfo Lite

This is a tool to analyze media files. It can give you information about the audio and video format, video resolution, duration, etc.
It optionally includes a shell extension for Windows Explorer. When installed, it will show you information when you move your mouse pointer over the media file.

VLC Player (a.k.a. VideoLAN)

VLC is an excellent movie player. It has it's own plugins for playing different movie formats, so it doesn't need any codecs to be installed. It plays almost everything and also works great for previewing partially downloaded files.

MediaLooks QuickTime DirectShow Filter

This is a DirectShow filter that can be used to play QuickTime files such as .mov and .3g2 in DirectShow players (for example Windows Media Player). This filter requires that QuickTime is installed as it uses the QuickTime framework for decoding the files.

MOV Download Tool

This is a tool for downloading QuickTime files from various websites.

This tool acts as a proxy between those QuickTime 'buttons', which you can find on various websites (mostly for HD content), and the QuickTime Player. The URLs are intercepted by the tool and it presents you a list of actions to choose from.

This tool is also able to extract URLs from .qtl files. Those can be found on for example the Yahoo! movie site.
