Codec Tweak Tool

This is a stand-alone version of the tool that is included in the K-Lite Codec Pack.

With this tool you can do things like:

• Scan the registry to detect and remove broken references to codecs and filters.
• Generate a detailed log of all installed codecs and filters.
• Enable/disable over 190 codecs and filters (if they are installed)

MOV Download Tool

This is a tool for downloading QuickTime files from various websites.

This tool acts as a proxy between those QuickTime 'buttons', which you can find on various websites (mostly for HD content), and the QuickTime Player. The URLs are intercepted by the tool and it presents you a list of actions to choose from.
This tool is also able to extract URLs from .qtl files. Those can be found on for example the Yahoo! movie site.

VLC Player (a.k.a. VideoLAN)

This is an excellent movie player. It has it's own plugins for playing different movie formats, so it doesn't need any codecs to be installed. It plays almost everything and also works great for previewing partially downloaded files.

It optionally includes a shell extension for Windows Explorer. When installed, it will show you information when you move your mouse pointer over the media file.

Morgan Multimedia Stream Switcher

This is a DirectShow filter for switching between streams in a media file. This filter is only needed if you want to play files that contain multiple audio/video/subtitles streams. This filter for example prevents multiple audio streams to be played simultaneously and instead allows you to choose one of them. Most modern video players already have a stream switcher build in. So usually this filter is NOT needed. Warning: This filter is buggy and it is therefore not recommended to use it.
