Do you have a x64 version of Windows? In that case it is recommended to also install the x64 version of the codec pack. You can get that HERE.
By installing both 32-bit and 64-bit codecs, you can enjoy their functionality in all applications. The x64 pack is useful even when you only use a 32-bit player. It will for example extend support for video thumbnails in Windows Explorer with more formats.
